The Cabinet has approved an implementation agreement with Angola to advance the development, construction, and operation of the Baynes Hydro Power Plant.
This approval follows a proposal by Mines and Energy Minister Tom Alweendo, who emphasised the need for government support to accelerate progress on this binational project.
The Baynes Hydro Power Plant, with a planned capacity of 81 MW, is a long-term project located along the lower Cunene River, approximately 200 km downstream from Ruacana, near the Namibia-Angola border. The project is currently in its feasibility phase.
