Last month, the coastal region of Namibia experienced a significant upswing in tourism, marking the highest occupancy rates in the sector at 71.9%, according to financial analysts Simonis Storm Securities.
This achievement, surpassing 70%, is noteworthy as it hasn’t been seen since October 2018.
Northern Namibia secured the second position with a 69.2% occupancy rate, following two consecutive months of leading the charts.
Meanwhile, the Southern and Central areas reported rates of 62.1% and 60.8%, respectively.
On a national scale, the overall occupancy rate held steady at 65.5%, reflecting an improvement from the 54.6% recorded in October of the previous year.
Statistics from the Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) indicate that leisure travel continued to be a significant driver of occupancy rates, constituting 89.6%, while business travellers accounted for 9.9%.
