The Green Hydrogen Organisation has stated that green hydrogen-based fertiliser can provide a more stable pricing environment compared to natural gas-based alternatives.

Joes Williams, deputy CEO of the organisation, explained that traditional fertiliser prices fluctuate with natural gas costs, creating economic uncertainty. However, green ammonia—produced using green hydrogen—could offer a more predictable price.

Fertiliser costs form part of the drivers of agricultural inflation, increasing food costs, especially in countries that depend on imports, including Namibia.

In an interview with Eagle FM at the 11th edition of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD), Willimas lauds Namibia potential to produce green ammonia affordably due to its abundant energy sources.
