The Hambukushu Traditional Authority has urged President Nangolo Mbumba to intervene in a dispute concerning the recognition of the Khwe Traditional Authority and the appointment of its leader within the Bwabwata National Park.
Reports indicate that the Khwe people (San) have been settled in Bwabwata, located in the Mukwe Constituency of the Kavango East region, since before the late 18th century.
However, the Khwe community in Bwabwata faces numerous challenges, including poverty, a nomadic lifestyle, early childhood marriages, teenage pregnancies, lack of electricity, and inadequate communication networks.
