The world is witnessing a resurgence in nuclear energy development, with demand surging across multiple regions, according to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) 2025 report.
The Agency says that market, technology, and policy conditions are aligning to drive a new era of growth for nuclear power.
The report notes that global electricity consumption has increased at twice the rate of total energy demand over the past decade, a trend expected to continue as industries such as electric vehicles, data centers, and artificial intelligence expand.
“Nuclear is a clean and dispatchable source of electricity and heat that can be deployed at scale with round-the-clock availability. It brings proven energy security benefits to electricity markets as well as reductions in emissions, complementing renewable energy,” the IEA states.
