The Kasi Vibe Event has made a significant impact on many Namibian entrepreneurs since its first edition held in August 2017.

This local social and entrepreneurial event usually takes place twice a year, in March and August, respectively.

For the past few years, the event could not go due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Selmi Shiguedha, an event organiser and the public relations person for the Kasi Vibe event, told this publication that the event should resume with its 9th edition kicking off from the 3rd to 6th March at Sam Nujoma stadium.

Shiguedha said this year’s event would be different with the different setup from the other editions held in the past. The theme for the 9th edition is ‘Sailing through Namibia’.

She said there would be segments within the event to avoid having too many people cooked up in one area to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“If you have been at Kasi Vibe earlier, you’ll notice many changes. There is a reduction in the number of participants. We are going to have towns within Kasi Vibe. If you find out that Khorixas has a certain number of people, then you don’t have to surpass the required number of persons in an area. You go to the next town. We will release a plan a week before the event just to inform what will happen,” explains Shiguedha.

She also stated the Ministry of Health is endorsing and is in support of the event. There will be a Covid-19 vaccination stall, and there will also be a team of information officers to educate the people on the importance of getting a vaccination.

“The event will take place. We have a team working together to make sure everything runs smoothly. We have shared responsibilities amongst each other,” guaranteed Shiguedha.

She further said they work closely with the youth, primarily interns from different institutions.

She also emphasised that they set goals for themselves as organisers to measure the success of the event, and she as well mentioned that they always have to make sure they work within their budget.

Moreover, the event organiser said Kasi Vibe believes in local talent and artists; hence people should expect performances by Namibian artists.

She said they are not bringing in anyone from outside Namibia to promote local performers.

“We will be announcing who is performing at the even on all our social media platforms,” she said.
