A group of young people from Leonardville has voiced strong support for the controversial Headspring Investments Rosatom in-situ uranium project, arguing that it offers a solution to unemployment, economic stagnation, and a lack of educational opportunities in the Omaheke region.

“We urge the government, business leaders, and local communities to allow the continuation of Rosatum’s research phase and the commencement of full-scale operations at Farm Tripoli,” the Leonardville youth stated.

Their support comes amid opposition from livestock farmers and residents of Aminius in the Omaheke region, who have expressed grave concerns about the project’s potential environmental impact.

They argue that uranium mining poses a significant threat to groundwater sources, which are vital for their livelihoods and those of future generations.
