A new study underscores the pivotal role of Namibia’s mining sector in driving the country’s green industrialisation efforts.

The report, presented at the Global African Hydrogen Summit, recommends leveraging Namibia’s mining capabilities to advance a unified green industrialisation agenda and calls for the establishment of a supportive legislative framework to fully unlock the potential of Namibia’s green industry.

Titled “Localising Green Industries in Namibia,” the study was conducted by Systemiq from December 2023 to May 2024.

It involved collaboration between the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade, the Namibian Green Hydrogen Programme, and the Green Hydrogen Business Alliance Project, with implementation support from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
