NamPower will officially commission the second phase of its N$1.28 billion Anixas II Power Station at Walvis Bay, which is expected to contribute approximately 54 MW to the national power grid.
The commissioning of phase two of the Anixas Power Station is another step towards fulfilling the government’s 2018 plan to add an additional 250 MW to the national grid through six projects, five of which are renewable-based, in pursuit of self-sufficiency.
Of these six projects, only the Omburu Power Station was commissioned and became operational in 2022, with plans underway to expand it and install battery energy storage.
