Afrail Inc., a subsidiary of New York-headquartered Abba Platforms Inc., secures approval from the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board to develop an urban rail transit system in Northern Namibia.
The ambitious project aims to enhance connectivity across Oshakati, Ongwediva, Ondangwa, Eenhana, and Oshikango through the deployment of AfrailX, a modern and eco-friendly transit system.
Afrail is expected to introduce automated, lightweight electric pods running on elevated tracks.
The US$2 billion (approximately N$37 billion) investment is designed to alleviate congestion, reduce traffic accidents, and cut carbon emissions by up to 50%.
