The Namibian Agronomic Board (NAB) has announced that only six horticultural products on the 20-crop special list will be restricted from importation for February 2025.

This marks a significant decrease from December 2024, when 15 crops were closed for importation, leaving just five open for trade.

In a notice issued recently, NAB Chief Executive Fidelis Mwazi stated that the border will be closed for the importation of all types and sizes of butternut, carrots, English cucumbers, colored peppers, green peppers, and sweetcorn, except for specified exclusions.

Emilie Abraham, Manager of Horticulture at NAB, emphasised the importance of these restrictions, explaining that the decision aligns with the Agronomic Industry Act and the Namibian Horticulture Market Share Promotion Scheme rules.
