Namib Mills is investigating the recall of its Top Score vanilla-flavoured instant maize porridge in South Africa following the tragic deaths of three children who consumed the product.

The recall was reported in South Africa on Friday. Namib Mills’ Senior Brand Manager, Marné Bouwer, confirmed the company is aware of the incident but declined to provide further details, citing ongoing investigations and laboratory tests in South Africa.

She said that the matter is still under investigation. “We are conducting tests and awaiting results,” Bouwer stated.

In the meantime, Namib Mills has temporarily withdrawn all Top Score Instant Porridge products from the market while an investigation is underway.

“This is a proactive measure, reflecting our commitment to consumer safety. We are cooperating fully with all relevant authorities and have also initiated our own internal investigation to ensure complete transparency,” said Bouwer.
