The board was appointed in October 2017 to serve for a period of 2 years.

Nam Fish Consumption Trust – Promotes the consumption of fish throughout the country and ensures that the promotion of fish consumption goes hand in hand with imparting skills on how to prepare different means of consuming the marine resource.

In line with their mandate, they have constantly optimized their efforts of making fish accessible and affordable throughout the country by setting up fish shops and conducting monthly regional fish promotional activities, to ensure that their footprint and representation is in all parts of the country.

Currently, NFCPT owns and operates 17 fish shops in 13 of Namibia’s 14 Regions (namely Erongo, Khomas, //Karas, Hardarp, Omaheke, Kunene, Oshikoto, Oshana, Omusati, Ohangwena, Kavango West, Kavango East, and Zambezi) and employs about 149 employees to deliver its mandate.

Over the years, we have witnessed a significant improvement of fish consumption among Namibians from roughly 4kg per capita at independence to 11.5 per capita fish consumption in 2018.  In 2001 NFCPT distributed a mere 500MT, this amount has since increased to 7117 in 2018. Our main fish products are horse mackerel and hake which we receive from the Government through a Quota Allocation by the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources.
