In a poignant twist of fate on World Cancer Day, observed annually on February 4, Namibia bids farewell to President Hage Geingob, who succumbed to cancer at a hospital in Windhoek.
The Vice President, in his acting capacity, announced the sombre news.
Geingob had sought innovative cancer therapy in Los Angeles, California, reflecting his determination to combat the disease.
Having survived prostate cancer during his tenure as Prime Minister in 2014, Geingob assumed the presidency the following year.
A statement from the Presidency, signed by Vice President Nangolo Mbumba, revealed that Geingob’s family, including his devoted wife, Madam Monica Geingos, and children, stood by him during his medical journey.
