Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says Namibia should explore potential benefits from downstream nuclear value chain activities, as the country solidifies its position as a key supplier of uranium.

Speaking at the 11th edition of the Mining Expo and Conference, Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised that Namibia should consider how the application of nuclear technologies can benefit sectors such as food production, medicine, and energy.

She highlighted that energy is a crucial enabler of industrialisation.

“Uranium and gold sub sectors need to be taken seriously. As a country, we must engage in the debate around nuclear use for peaceful purposes,” she said.
