According to analysts, the reciprocal trade tariffs (21%) imposed by the United States of America are based on their trade deficit with Namibia divided by the value of their imports.
The latest statistics for January and February 2025, as prepared by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA), show that the USA companies exported more goods to Namibia compared to what Namibia exported.
This does not include their digital exports, Google, YouTube, and others that are consumed in Namibia via the internet. These digital services are also not taxed.
In January, Namibia exported 59 products to the USA worth N$1.5 billion.
A breakdown of this shows that uranium ores and concentrates account for 93% (N$1.4 billion) of that export.
