Namibia, along with other United Nations member states, is set to vote today on a General Assembly resolution calling for the removal of U.S. sanctions on Cuba.
The resolution, 78/7, urges an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
This will be the 32nd time the Assembly has addressed the issue.
The resolution states that the blockade cost Cuba over $5.06 billion between March 2023 and February 2024 – an increase of nearly $190 million from the previous year.
The monthly impact of the sanctions is estimated at approximately $421 million, translating to over $13.8 million per day and $575,683 per hour.
