The Daures Green Hydrogen Village (DGHV) Consortium is currently seeking funds to produce ammonia sulphate fertiliser, a project not initially covered by the German government’s initial investment.
This was revealed by the project’s Chief executive Officer, Jerome Namaseb, saying while the production of ammonia sulphate fertiliser was not covered by the German funding, it is now a priority for the village.
The project, situated near Uis in the Erongo region, aims to serve as a research and proof-of-concept facility, promoting the development of green hydrogen and green ammonia economies in Namibia.
“Currently, it is not in construction, and it was not part of the initial funding which was received. So, we are in the process of sourcing funding which will result in the production of ammonia sulphate fertiliser,” Namaseb stated.
He added that the village has the capacity to produce around 30% of Namibia’s yearly consumption of ammonia sulphate fertiliser.
The DGHV project, supported by a N$220 million grant from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is set to pioneer the generation of green hydrogen and green ammonia in Namibia.
