President Hage Geingob’s prolonged absence from office due to ill health cannot affect the resumption of the government’s programmes for the year, analysts say.
Geingob who since last week delegated Vice president Nangolo Mbumba to act as President in his absence has not returned to office despite returning from his California trip.
The President was expected to chair the upcoming Cabinet meeting scheduled for 6 February 2024, with a crucial decision-making session following on 13 February 2024.
He was also expected to appear at the official opening of Parliament, also scheduled for next week.
However, the Office of the President announced that upon his return from the US, Geingob was admitted and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital and is likely not to return to office duties soon.
