Kavango East Governor, Sirrka Ausiku, has appealed to the government to establish a tourist center in Nkurenkuru, citing the lack of active tourist activities in the region’s largest town.
Ausiku also encouraged the Nkurenkuru town council to engage with Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) and Gondwana to seek assistance.
According to Ausiku, the region currently possesses only one park, and it lacks accommodation facilities.
She called on NWR to develop lodges or camping facilities managed by young entrepreneurs.
“The nearest popular lodge is in the Kavango West region near Rundu town, and only offers boat trips for tourists alongside the Kavango River, apart from that there’s nothing for tourists,” Ausiku remarked
