The government has moved to dispel uncertainty surrounding the swearing in of President Nangolo Mbumba following the passing of the late President Hage Geingob.

Mumba who served as Vice President under Geingob was sworn-in on Sunday, 04 February as Namibia’s fourth President until the next elections scheduled for November later this year.

His ascent to power sparked nationwide discussions questioning the legality of the process followed before he was sworn-in and the extent of his powers.

However, Attorney General and the appointment of Vice-President Nangolo Mbumba as President, asserting that all actions were conducted in accordance with the Namibian constitution.

Mbandeka clarified that both the President’s and Vice-President’s terms of office would extend until March 21, 2025, covering the remainder of the unexpired period.
