Leaders in the Kavango East Region are urgently calling on the Ministry of Mines and Energy to prioritise the needs of the people by accelerating rural electrification efforts in the region and incorporating provisions for solar energy solutions.
The regional leadership contends that over the past 34 years, rural electrification initiatives in the area have primarily targeted public institutions rather than households.
They advocate for a shift in focus towards electrifying rural households, some of which have been without electricity since Namibia’s independence.
