The Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform has completed the drilling of 21 boreholes in villages prone to crocodile attacks in the Kavango East regions.
This initiative responds to the critical water situation, particularly in villages within Ndiyona Constituency.
Residents in these villages have been compelled to travel over 20 kilometres to the river for water, exposing them to human-wildlife conflicts.
The ministry’s deputy executive director Elijah Ngurare, said the drilling of the 21 boreholes was completed last month.
Ngurare emphasised the ministry’s commitment to ensuring access to clean water for every Namibian.
Ngurare explained that a new drilling rig, announced by Minister Calle Schlettwein early last year, was dispatched to Kavango West and East.
