Namibians are increasingly turning to campsites for their tourism experiences as occupancy rates at hospitality establishments continue to dwindle, dropping to 23.1% last month from 24.9% in January and 33.0% in February 2023.
The allure of more affordable options seems to be the driving force behind this shift, prompting locals to seek out campsites between January and February.
Interestingly, there was a notable surge in occupancy by Namibian and Southern African Development Community (SADC) visitors in February, with a total of 577 guests recorded compared to just 22 in January.
