Namibia experienced substantial economic growth in the third quarter of 2023, primarily driven by the mining and agriculture sectors, according to the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA).
The GDP report for Q3 2023, released on Thursday, reveals positive momentum in the nation’s economy, with a significant expansion of 38.3% in the primary industries.
NSA’s Statistician General Alex Shimuafeni, said: “Notably, this growth was spearheaded by the ‘Mining and quarrying’ sector, which demonstrated an impressive 51.7% increase, alongside the ‘Agriculture and forestry’ sector, which exhibited a commendable 19.9% expansion”.
This positive trend is attributed to heightened oil and gas exploration activities and increased momentum in livestock marketing, Shimuafeni said.
