Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called upon the government to expedite its efforts in addressing the impact of climate change, warning of an impending severe drought.
During the opening session of Swapo’s Central Committee meeting held on Saturday, Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted the pressing need for action, citing the scant rainfall received this year across the SADC region, which has failed to positively impact the previously planted crops.
“The government should devise measures and strategies to mitigate the impact of the drought, including putting into full production some of the green scheme projects as a matter of urgency. Concerted action is needed as almost all countries in SADC may face the challenges of food insecurity,” she said.
