The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture is grappling with an oversupply of lower primary teachers, and cannot find jobs for them.
This situation is becoming dire that Education Minister Anna Nghipondoka is now advising fresh school graduates against pursuing teaching majors in this specific stage of education.
Nghipondoka emphasised the abundance of unemployed lower primary teachers and urged grade 11 graduates not to choose lower primary courses when furthering their studies.
In a recent interview with Eagle FM, she expressed concern about the surplus of graduate teachers in the streets due to the ministry’s inability to employ them.
