Minister of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism, Pohamba Shifeta, has urged stakeholders to join the government in creating more cultural heritage products to expand Namibia’s tourism offerings.
This initiative aims to stimulate domestic tourism demand and enhance the guest experience within the country.
Earlier this month, The Villager reported a decline in domestic tourism, with locals visiting hospitality establishments decreasing to 17.7% last month, down from 19.1% in April 2024 and 22.5% in May 2023.
Shifeta spoke at the inaugural Etotha Annual Cultural Festival, held from June 27 to July 1 at the Kangonde Salt Pan, Onanke Village, in the Oshikoto region.
He highlighted the festival’s potential to improve local livelihoods by activating economic activities and unlocking business opportunities.
