Namibia’s green hydrogen initiative is poised to create 102,000 job opportunities, marking a transformative step in addressing unemployment and stimulating economic growth.
Agricultural Economist Mwala Lubinda highlighted the industry’s potential to drive socio-economic change through sustainable energy production.
“This initiative will generate 102,000 job opportunities, with 32,000 jobs directly benefiting the Namibian economy,” he said.
The anticipated employment opportunities will span various sectors, including infrastructure development, logistics, and green hydrogen production.
Lubinda outlined ambitious targets for the industry, aiming to produce 15 million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2025, increasing to 50 million tons by 2050.
Achieving these goals, he noted, requires significant investments, including $16 billion in rail infrastructure, $6 billion for port development, and N$173 billion in green hydrogen facilities and electricity investments.
