Namibian civil technicians and engineering students are calling for urgent upgrades to the country’s railway infrastructure.

They emphasised its ability to drive national development, alleviate road congestion, and provide job opportunities for the youth.

Ismael Sefanya, a technician and civil engineering student at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), said he remains optimistic about the future of the country’s railway sector.

“Railway connectivity is one of the areas that contributes to national development, particularly through employment creation and the transportation of goods and commuters between towns,” Sefanya said.
