President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has placed youth empowerment at the centre of her government’s plans.

During her state of the nation address (SONA), Nandi-Ndaitwah announced new reforms aimed at reshaping Namibia’s economy and social development.

The address, delivered under the theme “Unity in Diversity, Natural Resources Beneficiation and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development”.

Nandi-Ndaitwah announced a consolidated Youth Fund to support youth-led informal and micro businesses. She said N$257 million has been set aside for this financial year.

She also launched a National Youth Internship and Apprenticeship Programme for both the public and private sectors. The government will fund 121 youth-owned enterprises through a N$9.8 million allocation.
