Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Natural Resources, Tjekero Tweya, emphasised that it is the duty of lawmakers to hold the executive arm of government accountable regarding laws surrounding natural resources.

“The executive must submit reports for parliament to scrutinise. Lawmakers are accounting through parliament to the nation,” said Tweya.

Speaking at a public lecture on petroleum activities held at the Namibia University of Science and Technology on Thursday evening, Tweya criticised the notion that wealth equates to ownership, stressing that Namibians are the rightful owners of the country’s resources.
