The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) claims that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) over the last three years would have been nonexistent without its intervention.
“For the past three years, FDI has reached billions, higher than any year since 2009,” said NIPDB CEO, Nangula Uaandja. She revealed that in 2023 alone, Namibia attracted approximately N$43 billion in FDI.
Uaandja explained that the NIPDB plays a critical role in coordinating with key ministries like Agriculture, Fisheries, and Mines to attract and facilitate investment.
Without this collaboration, she stated, the figures “would be zero.”
Over the past three years, Namibia attracted a total of approximately N$73 billion in FDI, with around N$33 billion tied to the oil and gas sector and the remaining N$40 billion spread across various industries.
