The Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) has raised concerns over a growing number of fraudulent higher education institutions operating in the country.
Romanus Shivoro, Chairperson of the NQA Governing Council, stressed the importance of public vigilance, stating: “these fraudulent entities not only mislead potential students but also compromise the integrity of our education system. Together, we have a shared responsibility to create awareness about these bogus institutions that misrepresent themselves as legitimate providers of education”.
NQA has been running a three-month awareness campaign, urging both registered and unregistered institutions to obtain the necessary registration and accreditation.
Speaking to Eagle FM, NQA spokesperson Lina Ndengu revealed that while Namibia has 70 accredited institutions, there are over 100 fraudulent or unregistered ones operating illegally.
