A farmer from Okongo, Elia Wanghende who has been conducting research for many years on how to grow and maintain bananas, has managed to grow 60 plantain trees on his farm. Speaking to Eagle FM, Wanghende shared that a common misconception about certain fruits, like bananas, being unsuitable for the northern regions of Namibia led him to pursue research and ultimately sparked his agricultural journey. “I spent a lot of time researching how to grow banana plants. I learned what they need to thrive, such as ample water, organic fertiliser, and proper maintenance.
