A recent report from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) paints a grim picture of Namibia’s worsening drought crisis, projecting a sharp increase in food insecurity over the coming months.

Currently, more than 38% of Namibia’s population is experiencing severe food insecurity, a number expected to rise significantly.

By April to June 2025, the number of Namibians facing critical food shortages is forecasted to climb from 1.1 million to 1.25 million, underscoring the urgent need for immediate humanitarian intervention.

Experts warn that without swift action, the situation will worsen, further affecting the livelihoods of countless Namibians.
