The Minister of Agriculture, Carl Schlettwein, has called on agriculture stakeholders to join forces, pooling resources to enhance investment and improve the sector’s performance.

He emphasised that collaborative investment in agriculture is vital to uplift livelihoods across Namibia, with a particular focus on financing, reducing hunger, and strengthening community resilience.

Schlettwein announced plans for Namibia to build small-scale agro-processing facilities across all 14 regions in the coming strategic period.

This initiative is part of the agri-food sector strategy to integrate small-scale farmers, cooperatives, and women and youth groups into the mainstream agri-food business.

“These facilities will be equipped with agro-processing machinery and equipment and will be rented out to the target beneficiaries at affordable rates. This initiative stems from the government’s responsibility and commitment towards inclusive growth,” he said.
