The Namibian Exiled Kids Association says it is disheartening that mighty Swapo Party has begun to deteriorate and descend from the throne of glory it once enjoyed.

In a statement dated 23 January 2020, Neka president Benita Nakaambo said that the lack of interest by the youth will be detrimental to the party.

Nakaambo said that she was concerned with the loss of interest by the youth in the Swapo Party affairs.

According to Nakaambo, the point of emphasis is the loss of the jealously guarded two-thirds majority in the November 2019 Presidential and National elections.

She also said pointed at the loss of the Walvis Bay Urban and Keetmanshoop Urban by-elections to an independent candidate and the Landless People’s Movement.

Nakaambo further said that disunity was prevailing among the rank of file of the party.

“Swapo as we know it is a mass-based organisation greater than any individual. It is a party that serves all its members as its are rooted in the people for people. ” she said.

She added that Swapo’s principle motto is and remains freedom, justice and solidarity for the downtrodden, the oppressed, weak and marginalised.

“One has to ask what has happened to these noble values that ignited and shaped the revolutionary fabric of the Swapo Party.

“As Neka it is our moral obligation as well as our constitutional right to protect and preserve the history of Namibia’s liberation through advocacy, cooperation and information sharing,” she said.
