Of the 14 Ministers appointed for the 5 years by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, more than 60% are women.

Women now hold the majority of positions in Namibia’s cabinet marking a historic shift in the country’s leadership.

On Saturday, newly sworn-in President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah made changes to Namibia’s leadership by reducing the cabinet from 21 to 15 members.

In a move that highlights her commitment to gender equality, she appointed a majority of women to her cabinet, surpassing the gender representation of previous administrations.

Nandi-Ndaitwah appointed Lucia Witbooi as Namibia’s first female Vice President.
