Transport costs experienced the sharpest annual inflation increase, rising from -0.1% year-on-year (y/y) in June 2023 to 8.3% y/y in June 2024, according to the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA).
This surge reflects higher expenses associated with the operation of personal transport equipment, notably petrol and diesel, despite stable fuel prices in June 2024.
Hotels, cafes, and restaurants also saw a significant inflation uptick, climbing from 6.7% y/y in June 2023 to 8.4% y/y in June 2024, driven primarily by accommodation services, which recorded an 11.5% y/y inflation rate.
Health-related costs experienced a slight inflation uptick, increasing from 3.8% y/y a year ago to 4.1% y/y in June 2024.
