The Chief Executive Officer of the Leonardville Village Council, Efraim Dawids, has projected that over 4,000 jobs could be created if Uranium One’s mining operations commences.
In a recent interview with The Villager, Dawids mentioned that, as part of the preparation for this potential opportunity, about 20 young people from the village are set to undergo training at the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) in Arandis, starting on September 1.
These young people, many of whom are school dropouts, are expected to benefit directly from the operations.
Dawids further explained that this training initiative is a key strategy of the council to empower the youth through skills development.
