Value addition has been at the forefront of discussions surrounding policy and economic growth in recent years.
Abner Tomas, who hails from Oniipa in the Oshikoto region, transformed his passion for farming and mushrooms into a niche business by producing biscuits, tea, and soup through his enterprise, Ndaka Mushrooms (NM).
Tomas’ journey started at Oniipa Primary School and continued through Hans Daniel Namuhuya Secondary School before he pursued a degree in microbiology at the University of Namibia (UNAM).
He later advanced his studies with a Master’s in Food Microbiology.
His love for mushrooms began during his teenage years, motivating him to establish a mushroom-related business when he struggled to secure employment despite numerous attempts.
