A man was found hanging on a rope tied onto a window frame in ward six at the Onadjokwe State Hospital on Sunday morning.

The police have identified the man as Timotheus Hashikuni (38).

Hashikuni’s body was found around 03h20.

Titus Kasayi was found dead in his shack in Okahandja Park, Wanaheda, Windhoek, on Saturday afternoon.

Kasayi (47) was staying alone. The police do not suspect any foul play.

At Warmbad at around 08h50, a neighbour found Barend David Claasen’s decomposing body.

The neighbour alerted the police of the discovery of Claasen (66). He was a South African citizen.

According to the police, a post-mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death. They, however, do not suspect any foul play.

A 39-year-old truck driver died on the spot on Saturday night when he lost control of the Volvo truck he was driving at Arandis.

Frans Wilhelm Hambia was trapped in the truck that had two trailers and was carrying bags of acid.

Josephat Iitenge (50) was found hanging on a marula tree at Uupeke village, Oshakati, on Friday at about 15h30.

Iitenge did not leave a suicide note, and the police do not suspect foul play.

In Okongo at Enyana village, Moses Ndjuluwa (30) hanged himself on Thursday at about 19h00.

STOCK THEFT

The police at Usakos are hunting for two suspects who slaughtered 12 sheep at Farm Daweb Wes Omkhaibasen Farmers’ Cooperative on Friday.

According to the police, the suspects fled when they heard a search team approaching them. The sheep are valued at N$23 700.

Some suspects stole cattle valued at N$9 500 from Elba Opstaal at Khorixas on Thursday. The police said the suspect drove the cattle from the grazing fields and slaughtered it. The carcass was, however, recovered and handed over to the owner.

Another stock theft case was reported at Okonyota village in Otjondeka on Friday midnight, where a man (23) was arrested after slaughtering a goat he had stolen. The goat was valued at N$500

The police recovered half of the carcass, which they handed over to the owner.

 

 

DRUGS INFEST MONDESA

Mondesa at Swakopmund is fast becoming a drug zone following the arrest of six people in possession of cannabis.

On Friday, around 15h00, the police arrested a 21-year-old man at Lapaloma flats.

During a search, the police found 6x small bankies of cannabis (4 grams) valued at N$200.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate court on Monday.

Fifteen minutes later, on Friday after the first arrest, police arrested a 56-year-old man at the same flats.

The police found the 56-year-old with cannabis valued at N$4 700 (three big bankies and five small bankies).

He is also expected in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Around 17h15 on Friday, the police arrested another man aged 23. This time, the suspect was arrested at Haulamba Street in Mondesa.

The man had 33 small bankies and one big bankie of cannabis weighing 66 grams with a street value of N$3 300.

Just like the other two, the 23-year-old is expected in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

A fourth man was arrested on the same at around 18h30. This suspect was arrested at the Twin Power tuckshop in the DRC location.

He was found with a half mandrax tablet, four ballies of cannabis (5 grams of majad), and one big bankie of cannabis (11 grams of skunk) valued at N$660.

The Swakopmund Magistrate’s court expects him on Monday.

Two more suspects were arrested on Friday at around 19h50 along Independence avenue. They are aged 18 and 20 years.

The two had 16 small bankies of cannabis (9 grams of skunk) valued at N$450.

They are also likely to be in court on Monday.
