The City of Windhoek’s (CoW) housing crisis has intensified, with the municipality estimating that at least N$7 billion is required to address the growing demand for affordable housing.

The City’s Strategic Executive for Housing, Property Management, and Human Settlement Faniel Maanda revealed this recently.

Windhoek’s housing demand is soaring as people flock to the capital in search of economic opportunities.

According to Maanda, the city’s population is growing at an annual rate of 3.1%, while informal settlements are expanding at an even more alarming 6.1%.
