The City of Windhoek (CoW) has announced that it has earmarked approximately N$15.2 million for the repair of damaged road infrastructure across the capital. This was revealed in response to an opinion piece published by The Villager last week.

According to the city’s management, the projected amount covers the initial phase of the repair efforts, with the possibility of additional funding required as the situation develops. The municipality emphasised its commitment to mobilising the necessary resources to restore the road network to a safe and reliable condition as swiftly as possible.

Currently, nearly every road in Windhoek is affected, with widespread potholes and corroding edges. The deteriorating state of the roads is not only damaging vehicles but also contributing to traffic congestion and the avoidance of certain routes.
