Concerned Citizen

 

I am not particularly fond of soccer; at least my enthusiasm for the sport pales in comparison to that of most of my friends.

What I find intriguing is how, during a football match, my friends seem to know everything the professionals on the pitch are doing, scrutinising every action, analysing what the players did wrong, what they should have done differently, and how they could have improved their performance – all with remarkable detail.

In these moments, I can’t help but wonder: What if we directed that same level of analytical skill and enthusiasm towards examining the policy decisions being made in our country, and how we could shape them to benefit the people?

What I find fascinating is that we find time and energy to dissect the income sources of others but not our own. Policy formulation lies at the heart of the changes we wish to see in our country.

Yet, every time I engage in a political or economic discussion, it inevitably devolves into a debate about which political party reigns supreme – without any real substance or clarity on what “best” even means.
