While I acknowledge this may be somewhat of a generalisation, it appears that many Namibians place an excessive amount of trust in our leaders.

The habit of emerging only once every five years to vote, then reverting to political and economic hibernation until the next elections, requires discussion.

This pattern deprives us of valuable insights and developments during our periods of hibernation.

This is why only a limited number of individuals demand leadership accountability, falling far short of what is necessary to create any significant impact.

Issue No.23 of the Procurement Tracker, as reported by the Institute For Public Policy Research (IPPR), highlights that, “at the end of May 2023, governments and civil society representatives from across the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) gathered in the Angolan capital, Luanda, for a week-long conference on fast-tracking the implementation of specific parts of the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).”

This situation brings to mind a meme I encountered on social media, humorously illustrating the absurdity of seeking a cure for malaria from a swarm of mosquitoes.
