ON THE RADAR WITH DOLLY AND JUJU (19 DECEMBER 2024)
1. In this episode we engaged farmer Ishmael Uandara to give us insights on the impact of the new outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease that has been confirmed in the Okakarara constituency, affecting several villages in the Okondjatu area. The disease, spread by biting insects, causes skin nodules and can be fatal to cattle.
2. In this episode, we discuss the Namibia Employers’ Federation’s concerns about the National Minimum Wage set to take effect on 1 January 2025. NEF warns that the immediate implementation could lead to job losses and business closures, especially in vulnerable sectors like agriculture and retail. NEF President Elia Shikongo joined us to explain the proposal and the urgent need for clarity from the Ministry of Labour.
3. The second and final day of inspecting election materials for the National Assembly elections has taken center stage. This process, initiated by LPM and IPC, aims to verify the integrity of the election. While PDM and Swapo Party Youth League support the inspection, LPM has criticized the tight timeline and restrictions on the inspection process.
