ON THE RADAR WITH HAPPY (28 MARCH 2025)
1. The minister of finance tabled the financial year 2025/2026 budget in parliament yesterday. A budget of N$106.3 billion has been tabled for FY2025/26, reflecting a 4.9% increase, with N$79.8 billion allocated for operational expenditure and N$12.8 billion for development projects. Despite a constrained fiscal environment, Namibia remains committed to long-term economic sustainability and improving living conditions for its citizens. Economist Lukas Kumonika joins us.
2. President Nandi-Ndaitwah has started with the appointment of 14 regional governors. With the 7 governors appointed this morning. Nandi-Ndaitwah explained that the governors have a role to play in the implementation of the government agenda of economic building. Especially the housing and youth Unemployment. On understanding the role of the governors and their importance to regional development we have spoken to some governors and independent analyst Ben Mulongeni.
3. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) recently facilitated a poultry production training in Keetmanshoop as part of Phase 2 of the South-South Cooperation (SSC) program between China and Namibia. This initiative aimed to equip local farmers with practical skills and knowledge, enhancing their ability to strengthen and sustain local poultry farming practices.
