In Namibia, child maintenance laws are governed by the Maintenance Act of 2003, which states that both parents are equally responsible for the financial support of their children, regardless of which parent has custody.

This means that if a father has custody, the mother can also be required to pay child support to ensure the child’s well-being. But do mothers pay maintenance and is there enough awareness around this particular conversation?
